LITTLE MARVEL

1921 - 1928

Little Marvel was a record label in the United Kingdom during the 1920s, owned by the Vocalion record company.

Specializing in small, inexpensive gramophone records (5 3/8 - 6 inches), it operated in a competitive market in the UK and Germany. These records, sold exclusively at Woolworth's chain stores, featured the store's logo on the label and were priced at 6d (sixpence).

Starting in 1921, the first issues were available at select Woolworth's locations, later expanding to all stores in 1923. Notably, the recording artists were not credited on the labels, which provided information only on the song title, music style, and sometimes the songwriter/composer. Despite this, Little Marvel records gained popularity for their affordability and lively performances, including some children's discs. Most releases paired a copyrighted popular number with a public domain or company-controlled copyright title on the other side.
