Gratitudes & respect
The success of this project is due to the dedication of numerous 78rpm record enthusiasts.
We are grateful for the contributions of individuals who have shared their knowledge and resources, enabling us to achieve this goal.
It is essential to acknowledge that the content on our website is not solely the result of our independent research.
We also collate and enhance information through our research efforts, with the objective of providing a comprehensive and freely accessible resource in one central location.

It's all about the 78 rpm spinning records. We collect and preserve any knowledge about 78rpm records.
We are situated in Switzerland, so even if we wanted to, unfortunately we can't buy shellac records from abroad. The shipping costs would be horrendous
Another outstanding foundation dedicated to preserving music on shellac records is based in Switzerland, specifically in Rüti, in the canton of Zurich.
The Swiss Foundation Public Domain was established in December 2012 with the mission to archive and digitize fragile audio carriers. The foundation's goal is to make historical audio material permanently accessible to the public, ensuring it is not forgotten. Their work serves as a contribution to preserving cultural heritage, which is often at risk of being lost due to the passage of time, technological changes, or lack of preservation.
The foundation's archive now includes more than 70,000 shellac records, primarily featuring German-language songs, including folk songs, popular hits, operettas, and early jazz recordings. Over 16,000 records have already been digitized by volunteers and are available in high-quality formats on the foundation's website. This offering caters not only to researchers and music enthusiasts but also to the general public. Visitors can listen to the recordings and explore valuable background information about the artists, composers, and the historical context of the music.
In addition, the Swiss Foundation Public Domain operates three dedicated online radio stations, broadcasting music from its archive around the clock. These stations provide a unique opportunity to share rare and historical recordings with a wider audience.

To ensure its long-term sustainability, the foundation relies on donations and volunteer support. It offers opportunities for individuals to contribute to the digitization or cataloging process, whether through technical expertise or by providing collections that have not yet been archived.
Like the American counterpart, ARCHIVE.org, both play a significant role in preserving cultural assets. Collaboration and exchange between similar institutions on an international level strengthen the shared mission of safeguarding and making humanity's cultural heritage accessible.

We constantly receive enquiries from all over the world about how to join and support the club.
We are a relatively small club in Switzerland, but we are passionate about what we do. A collector from the USA once asked if we would sell T-shirts with the logo. We never thought that this would be desired.
So we decided to work with Spreadshirt to give you the opportunity to buy a t-shirt or other printed products.
Proceeds from the purchase of any of our products will go directly towards the ongoing hosting costs of the website and its further development.
So if you want to support the 78rpm Club, now you know how 🙂
With best regards,
Axl Zeckai

We are pleased to announce that, thanks to the owner Lee Oestreicher, we have been able to digitize the general catalogs of Turicaphon AG and make them available to the public.
These are the Swiss and Austrian labels ELITE RECORD, ELITE SPECIAL, AUSTROTON and ELITINA. In addition, the complete press register has been made available.
We hope that this will help some collectors in German-speaking countries.
