GRAND PREE

1920s - 1928

Grand Pree Records was an Australian label that started in the early 1920s. Initially, it used pasted labels over deleted Winner records. Later, the Grand Pree label records were pressed in the UK by Pathe Freres for the Perpetual Trading Association in Sydney and then exported to Australia. The label had two series, one starting at 17000 for 12" records and another starting at 18000 for 10" records. However, in late 1927, the Australian government introduced an import duty on records, making it uneconomical to continue pressing Grand Pree records in the UK. The last Grand Pree records were pressed in Australia by Clifford Industries in 1928, using masters from U.S. Cameo & Gennett.
