BOUWMEESTER

1923 - 1931

Record, founded in the early 20th century by Dutch actor Louis Bouwmeester Jr., started releasing records in 1921, initially under Scala before adopting 1923 its own name. The label, influenced by Bouwmeester's theatrical involvement, notably with The Hague's Scala theater, marked his extension into the record industry. This venture was in collaboration with Scala Record Co. Ltd, uniquely positioning Bouwmeester Record in the early music industry.

Bouwmeester's active years in managing the label ended with his death in 1931.
