Windsor

1950 - 1956




American record label that was started in 1950 by Doc Alumbaugh and specialized in square and round dance recordings. Located in Temple City, California.

The first Windsor singles were instrumental hoedowns, and these were followed by singing calls that were popular tunes of the day done square dance style, the calling intertwined with the song lyrics.

The label branched out in 1956 into the roller skating disc field. Among other innovations, Windsor was the first to release singles with the called version of a tune on one side and the instrumental on the other.
