SOUTHERN

1960 - 1968

British 78 label launched in 1960 and initially based at 30 Old Compton Street, London. Later moved to 8 Denmark Street, c. 1963. Southern is part of the larger Peer-Southern organization.

According to Roy Kohn, manager of the US branch of Southern, the library was "built" by Den Berry, who also served as its managing director.

Though based in London, Southern apparently also had branches both in the US, Brussels, Paris and Amsterdam - and, additionally, composers from Austria, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden and Australia are also represented in their catalogue.
