Metronome Records

1949 - 1980's

Metronome (also Metronome Records) was a multinational record label founded in 1949 in Sweden by the brothers Lars and Anders Burman together with their friend Börje Ekberg to release jazz.
In 1950, Mats Bjerke, together with Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, opened an office in Denmark, Metronome Records A/S.

In 1954 Bjerke and Fabricious-Bjerre expanded to West Germany, founding Metronome Records GmbH.

In 1979 Metronome Records AB was sold to WEA.

The Danish company was abandoned in the 1980's.

The German company, then named Metronome Musik GmbH, became part of Polygram in the mid-1970s.

The current owner of the label in Germany is Universal, and in Sweden Warner Music Sweden AB.
