LANDIA
1950s
Landia was a Latin record label active in the 1950s that appears to have originated in Caracas, Venezuela.
Evidence suggests that the label later operated out of New York, or that a New York–based subsidiary was established, as matrix numbers beginning with LR and MRV appear on releases in the 5000 series. The earlier DL-28 and DL-29 issues share the same label design as the later 5000-series discs.
The earliest known recordings were made in Caracas and produced by Discolandia, while the records themselves were pressed in Puerto Rico. Later, recording and production activity shifted to New York, with additional sessions also taking place in Cuba.
