HI-TONE

1949 - 1950s

Hi-Tone was a short-lived subsidiary label of Signature Recording Corporation, founded by Bob Thiele in February 1949.

The purpose behind the label was to offer inexpensive direct market sales of hit song cover versions to chain stores.

In 1950 they began releasing 10" shellac "children's records", in a variety of colors.

In 1952 they relocated to New York City, NY.

Hi-Tone was discontinued sometime in the early to mid 1950'.
