HEROFON
(1928 - 1959)
Herofon was not a record label but a brand for radios produced by Hede Nielsen's factories in Horsens, Denmark. In 1928, Ove Hede Nielsen, son of Hede Nielsen, started manufacturing radios under the name Herofon in a section of his father's factory. Production grew rapidly, and by 1939, the factory was producing over 10,000 Herofon radios annually.
In 1955, Hede Nielsen's factories expanded to include television production, sold under the brand Arena. From this point, the Herofon name was gradually phased out in favor of Arena. The last radio models with the Herofon name were produced in 1959, after which all radio and television products were marketed under the Arena brand.
It is important to note that Herofon never operated as an independent record label but solely as a brand for radios manufactured by Hede Nielsen's factories.
