HISTORY
The Manophone Corporation, based in Adrian, Michigan, was an early 20th-century manufacturer of phonographs. Founded in 1916 by James Manoil, the company produced „off-brand“ phonographs during the industry’s heyday.
In 1917, Clough & Warren, a prestigious piano company also located in Adrian, acquired controlling shares in Manophone, leading to a rebranding as the Manophone Corporation. This partnership combined Clough & Warren’s manufacturing expertise with Manophone’s phonograph production.
Despite these collaborations, the Manophone Corporation ceased operations around 1922–1923, likely due to the early 1920s phonograph recession and the challenges of rebranding.
