Ellen Brandt-Forster

Position: Opera Singer - Soprano

Overview

Ellen Brandt-Forster, also Ellen Forster-Brandt was an Austrian operatic soprano.

She received vocal training from Marie Louise Dustmann-Meyer, made her debut in Danzig as "Margarethe" (Faust, 1885) and was engaged at the court opera in 1887 (May 1, 1887 to April 30, 1906; debut May 6, 1887; chamber singer 1897).

Forster was an excellent interpreter of Richard Wagner and Mozart, but also had great success in the concert hall (especially with Hugo Wolf songs).
